Here are some Photos from our trip to Mungo National Park in Outback New South Wales,
Great for a day trip, or for a week, Mungo is a fantastic destination. In the dry weather Mungo National Park would be a great place for a beginner four wheel driver to explore. We highly recommend that you hire a local guide on one day of your trip who will help you discover in greater depth the history of the park.
Visitors can choose to camp at the designated Main or Belah campgrounds within in the park that have toilet, fire pit and picnic table facilities. For those wanting a bed to sleep on visitors can also stay at the Shearers Quarters near the Vistor Centre. If you are after a bit more luxury or a hot shower while you are camping the Mungo lodge offers cabins and ensuite camping sites and is located just outside of the park.
Mungo boasts stunning sand dunes, a vast unforgiving landscape and the incredible formations moulded by the wind and rain over thousands of years known as the Walls of China. The Vistor Centre and the Meeting Place are essential places to visit that explore the abundant Aboriginal history of the park. Mungo also has several walking tracks that can aid in your discovery of this unique place. When exploring the park do not be surprised if you see an emu or many as you drive along.
Mungo National Park is located about 2 hours drive north east of Mildura. Once home to a massive, inland, freshwater lake the area is rich in cultural, ecological and geographical history.
